On Friday 1st December we launched our Festive Winter Gift Programme – a series of events and activities that will bring our community together in acts of kindness and charitable giving over the Christmas period.
1 December: Highfield Christmas Calendar of Kindness

The 1st December marks the start of the Highfield Christmas Calendar of Kindness; an advent challenge that encourages us to be kind to ourselves, our families, the environment and the needy and lonely.  Each morning in the run up to Christmas, our young people will be set a Kindness Challenge – a small and simple act of kindness to brighten someone’s day and spread some festive cheer. Take a look at our Calendar  and joins us in our Kindness Challenges.

1st December: Christmas PTFA Fair

The 1st December also brings the return of the PTFA Christmas Fair. The fair boasts an array of attractions, offering you the opportunity to pick up any last minute presents from our gift stalls, take a chance on a prize in our raffle, enjoy festive refreshments, and let the little ones experience the magic of Christmas with an opportunity to meet Santa himself in his very own Highfield grotto! Doors open 4-7pm.

12th December: Food for All Collection

Christmas can be a very difficult time for people on low or no income. Following the success of our recent food drive, we are once again supporting people in our community who are living in food poverty.  On the 12th December we are asking pupils and their families to donate food to the Blackpool Food Partnership; a registered charity that supports many families and local initiatives. Food collected will be distributed to groups in need across Blackpool, including community kitchens, hostels and local families over the Christmas holiday.

14th December: Christmas Carol Service

On the 14th December, the Academy is hosting a Christmas Carol Service at Saint Mary’s, Stonycroft Avenue, from 6-7pm. The event, organised and delivered by our Pupil Leadership Team, is open to all Blackpool residents so we encourage you to come down and join us as we listen and sing about the Good News of Christmas.

19th December – Winter Warmth Collection

As temperatures plunge, living on the street is harder than ever. That’s why we are teaming up with Street Life, a Blackpool charity who help vulnerable young people aged 16-25 and provide emergency night shelter to those who are homeless. On the 19th December, we are asking our pupils and their families to support Street Life by donating basic toiletries and winter clothing to keep people warm.

20th December: Highfield Big Tea Party

Our Highfield pupils will also be offering the invaluable gift of companionship this Christmas. The Christmas holiday can be a lonely time of year. On the 20th December, the Academy will be hosting a Tea Party for some of the elderly members of our community, offering them an afternoon of cakes, conversation and carols. Our young people will lead the event serving refreshments, leading carols and sing-alongs and making Christmas cards and decorations for each of our guests.

21st December: Highfield Production’s Annual ‘Highfield’s Got Talent’ Night

Thursday 21st December sees the return of our annual Highfield’s Got Talent show.  Pupils from across the Academy will showcase their talent for singing, dancing and much more. Join us for a fantastic night of entertainment for the whole family. Doors open 6.30pm. Free admission.
