The number of pupils achieving the top GCSE passes at Highfield Leadership Academy has increased by 12%.

50% of our Year 11 pupils have achieved a ‘standard pass’ in GCSE English and Maths, achieving passes at grades 9 to 4.

The results highlight two years of sustained improvements at Highfield Leadership Academy. This year’s top GCSE grades are up 20% on A* to C grades achieved by pupils in 2015.

Helen Mackenzie OBE, our Executive Principal, said,

“Congratulations to our pupils on their results today, and to their parents and the staff at Highfield too. It’s fantastic to see that everyone’s hard work and support has led to a double-digit increase in Highfield pupils achieving the best GCSE grades. There are some excellent individual achievements and it’s been wonderful hearing about our pupils’ future plans.

“I’m proud to have joined the Highfield team. Together with my colleagues, I will ensure that we build on the excellent progress made over the last two years and deliver the best possible outcomes for all our pupils.”

Celebrations are underway at the Academy with an increase in the best grades meaning more pupils have secured their top choices of next steps.

Pupil Libby Thornley is looking forward to studying for A-Levels having achieved three Grade 8 passes and four A*s at GCSE. She said,

“I feel really happy with my results – the hard work has paid off!

“I’m going to study A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Modern History. I want to use these courses to study at university but I’m not sure on which course yet.

“Being a pupil at Highfield has shown me that you get out what you put in.”
