Our Year 9 pupils have been getting an insight into university life, thanks to two recent higher education events.

14 Year 9 pupils attended the University of Cumbria to gain an insight into life as a university student. The event was aimed at raising their aspirations. Pupils spent time in workshops looking at the various types of courses that can be studied and getting an insight into the variety of universities. They enjoyed touring the campus, including looking at the accommodation available in the halls of residence. They also played a Start Student game that challenged their perceptions of university. The pupils were well behaved and represented the academy very well.

A group of year 9 pupils also took part in an ‘Aspire to HE’ event at Edge Hill University. The pupils had an opportunity to learn about how university education works and compares to the lessons they have in the Academy. They enjoyed looking around the Edge Hill campus and had many questions for their student ambassador. Our pupils represented the academy fantastically and our ambassador said they were the best group she had ever had in the three years of doing the job.
