Staff and pupils at Highfield Leadership Academy are holding a virtual coffee morning in aid Macmillan Cancer Support.

Parents and pupils are asked to throw their support behind the cause by having a virtual ‘cuppa’ with Principal Andrew Galbraith and Year 11 pupil leaders on Friday, September 25.

Pupils are keen to not let the pandemic dampen their usual community spirit and will be rolling up their sleeves to whip up a selection of tasty treats to help support the charity.

Year 8 pupils will be baking shortbread for local hospice workers, and pupil leaders will bake an apple pie for the coffee morning event which will take place between 11.45am – 12.15 pm.

Andrew Galbraith, Principal at Highfield Leadership Academy urged parents and pupils to back the fundraising event.

Mr Galbraith said: “We are delighted to be able to once again lend our support to this worthwhile charity.

“Not only will we be hosting the coffee morning, but we are also holding a COVID-safe bake sale on the Thursday evening.

“Although things are obviously a little different this year, our charities are still in desperate need of support.

“We’re asking all our parents to take part in our virtual coffee morning, share a few laughs and make some money for this excellent cause.”
